Events
The Royal Rosarian Foundation maintains a busy schedule throughout the year to benefit worthy causes and to help preserve the wonderful traditions that make this City of Roses so unique.
Some of the things you’ll find us doing:
- Handing out checks to local scools
- Helping out at Community Transitional School
- Shopping with kids during Christmas for Kids
- Hosting the Royal Rosarian Rose Garden Contest
- Hosting the Milk Carton Boat race
- Honoring Rose Festival Queens at the Queens’ Garden Party

Field Trips Program

The Foundation provides funding for children at Portland Public, Reynolds, Hillsboro and David Douglas Schools to attend field trips with their classmates so that they are not left behind. Children are able to expand their knowledge by attending plays and musical performances for which the schools receive free tickets, as well as visiting the Oregon Zoo, OMSI, and local farms.
Community Transitional School

The Foundation provides partial funding for teachers’ aides who give students one-on-one and small group educational instruction.
Christmas For Kids

The Foundation helps support a program for qualifying children to shop for themselves & family members for Christmas gifts and clothes. Royal Rosarians accompany the children and give them guidance with their purchases.
Rose Garden Contest

The Royal Rosarian Rose Garden Contest began in 1938 to honor the rose and encourage citizens to keep Portland “the city of roses”. The contest is open to all rose growers within 20 miles of Pioneer Courthouse Square, Portland, Oregon. No garden club membership is required to enter the contest. Entry is free, and all are invited! Milk Carton Boat Race

The Royal Rosarian Milk Carton Boat Race offers a Sunday filled with family-friendly entertainment and some spirited competition. Children and adults race and show off handmade boats that float only using recycled milk cartons and jugs. We invite you to come and enjoy the fun!
Queens’ Garden Party

Rose Festival history is showcased when the Foundation hosts its honored guests, the former Queens of Rosaria, to the Queens’ Garden Party.
